Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
ReadZoo is built for families, which means children's privacy is at the center of how we designed it. The short version: parents own all accounts, we collect the minimum we need, we show no ads, and we never sell personal information.
Who creates accounts
Only parents and legal guardians create accounts, by signing in with Google. Children do not register, have no email addresses or passwords with us, and use the app only through reader profiles their parent creates and controls.
What we collect
- From parents: name, email address, and profile photo from your Google sign-in; your settings (e.g., weekly email opt-in).
- About each child (entered by the parent): a first name or nickname, an avatar, grade level, and an optional profile-switch PIN.
- Reading activity: books added, quizzes taken, scores, computed reading level, vocabulary saved, and badges earned.
We do not collect children's contact information, location, photos, or browsing behavior, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
How we use it
- To run the product: generate quizzes, track levels, show progress to you and your child.
- To send you the weekly progress email — only if you opt in, and you can opt out anytime in Settings.
- To improve quiz quality (e.g., reported or frequently-missed questions get reviewed and removed).
When our AI generates a quiz, it receives the book's title, author, and published material about the book — never your child's name or personal information.
Who we share it with
No one, except the service providers that run our infrastructure: Google Cloud / Firebase (hosting, authentication, database) and Google's AI services (quiz generation, book data only). If we add an email delivery provider for the weekly digest, it will receive your email address solely to deliver that email. We never sell personal information and we do not show ads.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
The Service is directed to parents. Child profiles are created by the parent, contain only what the parent enters (a name/nickname, avatar, and grade), and generate only reading-activity data. The parent can view, edit, or delete a child's profile and all its data at any time from Settings. Deleting a reader removes their profile and reading history from our systems.
Security
All access goes through authenticated, server-verified requests; our database is not directly accessible from the internet. Data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. Delete individual readers from Settings, or email us to delete your entire account and associated data: ajaypalnitj@gmail.com. We'll confirm completion within 30 days.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
